Division ONE Makes Its Grand Debut

Sun Jul 13 2025

Today, after months of planning and collaboration with top collegiate programs, Division ONE officially announces its arrival on the esports scene. What began as a simple “what if?” is now a fully realized conference poised to redefine collegiate esports competition.

What is Division ONE?

Division ONE is a premier collegiate esports conference designed to elevate student‑athletes, programs, and fans through the highest level of competition and innovative storytelling. Created to fill a void in college esports, D1 unites top university League of Legends and Valorant teams under one roof by providing year‑round content, cutting‑edge broadcast production with custom analytics, and an interactive fan ecosystem. By combining the passion of student competitors with prominent coverage and community engagement tools, Division ONE was founded to grow the collegiate esports landscape, forging a lasting legacy for players and audiences alike.

“What began seven months ago as a simple ‘what if?’ has become Division ONE,” says the Division ONE Commissioner Dalton Counter. “Together with our member schools, we’ve been hard at work transforming the collegiate esports landscape, and we can’t wait to show everyone what’s next.”

A First in Collegiate Esports: Every Match, One Platform

For the first time in college gaming, every regular‑season match of Division ONE League of Legends and Valorant will be streamed live on a single, centralized platform. Gone are the days of not knowing where or when matches will take place.

Division ONE is also proud to unveil one of its flagship fan‑driven features being the interactive pick’em contests. Before each match, fans will predict key stat lines and earn points for every correct answer, competing all season long for exciting prizes, all for free.

“The key to building college esports to its potential is fandom,” notes Dan Clerke, Maryville Esports Director. “You cannot build fandom without a concentrated effort from the best equipped schools to tell stories. This project is a representation of the best programs in the country giving their best effort to generate collegiate esports fans."
