The Front Runners

With strong performances leading up to Division One, Maryville and Winthrop are strong front-runners this season.

Maryville has recently snagged their program's 20th National Championship after finishing in first place in the 2025 Collegiate League of Legends (CLoL) and Collegiate Valorant (CVal) Championships. That and their history of League of Legends players going pro make them fierce competition.

Winthrop has its own skills to bring to the season, having placed first in the 2024 Hue Fest National Tournament and third in the 2025 CLoL Championship.

Both teams aren't strangers to each other, so it's bound to be an exciting match-up.

The Rising Stars

St. Clair Saints, Stony Brook, and Ohio State are here to show what they’re capable of this season. All three of these teams have players that have qualified for the finals collegiate circuit of the 2025 CLoL Championship.St. Clair Saints finished the highest out of the three schools in the 9-12 score pool with Stony Brook and Ohio State both placing in the 25-32 score pool. It'll be a must-see to watch these teams to see where they place in Division One.

The Underdogs

Everybody loves an underdog story, and Boise State, Utah, and West Virginia are here to prove their skills. Each of these teams bring something new and exciting this League of Legends season. Boise State is a constant presence in the Mountain West Conference, and, this year, their League of Legends coach, Kelsey Moser, won Coach of the Year. Utah has a history of being PAC-U 2023 Champions. For West Virginia, this is their first League of Legends team! Three teams that could shake up this season.

Division One is here to mirror the professional esports scene for collegiate players and create a space for fans to keep in touch with their favorite colleges on a full-season basis. Each collegiate team is here to compete. Over these next couple of months, they can rise, fall, and adapt. The stage this season will feel wide open, creating opportunities for exciting and memorable moments.
