It’s time to wrap up week 4 of Division One’s Valorant season! Showcased are the 4 matches played, some highlights, and an update on individual and team rankings.
Ohio State VS St. Clair
Last Sunday (10/5) brought an exhilarating battle between two skillful teams. Game 1 on Lotus (St. Clair pick) flip-flopped points at first. Quad kills seemed to be Ohio State’s specialty as Waldy in round 5, Des in round 7, and Bot in round 10 acquired them. However, St. Clair was able to win the game with a 6-13 victory. Game 2 on Corrode (Ohio State pick) was the closest game in Division One Valorant so far, going into a 12-13 overtime match point. St. Clair came out the gate from their previous game win with flawlesses, one with SCC Taiga getting a quad kill, for the first 2 rounds. Coming out of a brief timeout, Ohio State was locked in. They ended up winning 5 rounds straight with more scattered afterward. The score was 12-9 in their favor. St. Clair refuses to back down and manages to tie it up, 12-12. St. Clair’s Taiga clutches a 2v1 win in the final round for a match victory.
Ohio State is 1-3 and St. Clair is 3-1 in Division One Valorant.

Stony Brook VS Utah
Utah started game 1 on Abyss (Stony Brook pick) with a 5-round lead that included a flawless, but Stony Brook managed to tie the game up. Securing round 11 gave them a 6-round win streak. Utah tries their best to keep the game neck and neck. It ends up going to Stony Brook, 13-9. Game 2 on Ascent (Utah pick) also goes to Stony Brook, 13-6, despite Utah’s best efforts. As usual, the first couple rounds go to Utah with Superman getting a triple kill in round 1 and round 2 ending in a Team Ace. Stony Brook became quicker on the draw as rounds started stacking in their favor. SBU’s Ayble even got a quad kill for a flawless round 8. The only other impressive move Utah was able to make was Onstage getting a Clutch in round 10.
Utah is 0-4 and Stony Brook is 2-2 in Division One Valorant.

West Virginia VS Maryville
Maryville started game 1 on Sunset (Maryville pick) behind before finding their footing. Contributing to their 6-13 success was MU’s Chloric clutching round 6, the team having a flawless round 9, and MU’s RENZ getting a triple kill in round 13. Game 2 on Haven (West Virginia’s pick) was closer. Maryville got their same impressive kills: RENZ’s round 2 triple, Geeza’s slide quad kill in round 9, Chloric’s clutch in round 11, a team thrifty in round 21, and Geeza closing out the game with a quad kill. West Virginia did get impressive kills too, WVU Dinxx getting a Clutch in round 8 and a triple in round 11, but they also got rounds due to clock advantage. They worked the defuse time limit in their favor. Still, the game went to Maryville, 10-13.
West Virginia is 2-2 and Maryville is 4-0 in Division One Valorant.
