With Week 2 of Division One finished, here's a recap of Valorant matches, standings, and player statistics so far.
Week 2 is wrapped up and has set the stage for a stirring competition ahead. Here’s an overview of the games played, where teams stand in Division One, and a top-5 leaderboard for player statistics.
Utah VS Winthrop
Game 1 of the Utah VS Winthrop stream starts on Lotus (Winthrop pick). Things seem promising as Utah is quick to claim the first two rounds, but everything turns sour on round 3 when Winthrop wins it flawlessly. It gets worse for Utah. Winthrop’s Governor wins a 1v3 clutch round 11, point 9. Winthrop’s Ali wins another 1v3 the next round for point 10. Winthrop wins game 1, score 2-13.
Game 2 on Ascent (Utah pick) doesn’t start off much better for Utah. Six rounds go by, including an impressive triple kill by Winthrop’s Infiltrator, before Utah can win a round. There’s a reason why Winthrop is a top 2 contender in Division One. However, Utah does prove resilience. They managed to get two rounds win when Winthrop had 11 points and 4 more wins when Winthrop had 12 points. But that doesn’t last for long when Winthrop is 1 point away from taking the match.
Utah is 0-2 and Winthrop is 1-1 in Division One Valorant.
St. Clair VS Maryville
With Maryville being a top contender in Division One, there is an expectation of them quickly defeating opponents. This happened on Sunset (St. Clair pick) in game 1 as St. Clair was only able to win two rounds. Maryville, meanwhile, got two flawless rounds, Chloric got a triple kill, and they were comfortable to walk into the open while one player down in the fight and still win.
Game 2 was different. On Haven (Maryville pick), St. Clair and Maryville were neck in neck for most of the game. One would have the lead then the other would tie it back up. St. Clair would even lead in points. The only problem was a combination of Maryville’s outmaneuvering in not just fight but the defuse objective too. Twice, St. Clair would win a team fight but not have enough time to defuse. They also let Maryville defuse for free in a 1v1 In another round. It ended in a 8-13 win for Maryville.
St. Clair is 1-1 and Maryville is 2-0 in Division One Valorant.
Stony Brook VS West Virginia
Starting off this week’s stream of Valorant matches were three games between closely matched opponents. Game 1 starts on Haven (Stony Brook pick) where it seems that Stony Brook was playing catch up. They were able to tie up West Virginia’s early lead with a 4-4 round score after being 3 down, even getting a flawless victory in their last round to tie it. However, West Virginia always got ahead with strong rounds like when Excite got a triple-kill clutch for their 10th point. It ended 8-13.
Game 2 in Lotus (West Virginia pick) was flipped. Despite struggling at the start, Stony Brook hit their stride and managed to win 13-7. Some of their highlights include how Ayble clutched round 3 and how Rukie got a triple kill for their 12th point with Neon’s Overdrive ultimate. Game 3’s Haven (leftover), however, was devastating for Stony Brook. They couldn’t keep up game 2’s momentum. West Virginia won 4-13, despite Stony Brook’s Majestic’s quad kill for point 3.
Stony Brook and West Virginia are 1-1 in Division One Valorant.
Boise State VS Ohio State
Unfortunately, Boise State VS Ohio State wasn’t streamed, but, through Division One’s Valorant page, Boise State won game 1 on Abyss (Boise State pick) by 13-3 and game 2 on Lotus (Ohio State pick) by 13-6. The win truly was in Boise State’s hands, even when Ohio State tried to improve in game 2. They’re statistics are available including how all of Boise State’s players had 10 or more kills ending game one. In game 2, Boise State’s Master got 20 kills.
Boise State and Ohio State are 1-1 in Division One Valorant.
